Digital Artworks Created On IPad
A selection of recent digital artworks created on iPad, continuing an ongoing investigation into form, layering, and visual tension.

Artist Statement
Michael Forbes is a New York City–based artist exploring the space between layers, memory, and perception. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he began painting at the age of ten, initiating a lifelong dialogue with paint that has since expanded into the digital realm.
His contemporary, experimental practice is built on the principle of “object over object”—a method that investigates how forms interact, conceal, and reveal one another to create new visual narratives. This approach reflects the stacked histories, density, and complexity of his urban upbringing.
While working toward future gallery exhibition, Michael’s current practice is driven by pure visual experimentation. He is actively developing a cohesive body of work that pushes the boundaries between physical painting and digital construction.

PRACTICE & PROCESS
Each work begins without a fixed outcome. Forms are layered intuitively, allowing tension, overlap, and interruption to guide the composition. Digital tools are used not for precision, but for experimentation—mirroring the unpredictability of physical paint while expanding the possibilities of depth and revision.
